What is Premature Ejaculation?
Premature Ejaculation (PE) is a condition where ejaculation happens sooner than desired, often within a minute of penetration, causing distress or dissatisfaction. It is one of the most common sexual dysfunctions in men and can occur occasionally or as a persistent issue. While it is not harmful, it can impact confidence and relationships.
Why and How Does It Happen?
-
Psychological Factors: Stress, anxiety, depression, or performance pressure can trigger or worsen PE.
-
Hormonal Imbalances: Abnormal levels of neurotransmitters like serotonin may affect ejaculation control.
-
Hypersensitivity: Increased sensitivity of the penile nerves may lead to rapid ejaculation.
-
Erectile Dysfunction (ED): Some men with ED develop a habit of rushing intercourse to avoid losing their erection.
-
Genetic Factors: Studies suggest that some men may be naturally predisposed to PE.
-
Inflammation or Infection: Prostate or urethral infections can sometimes contribute to early ejaculation.
-
Irregular Sexual Activity: Long gaps between sexual encounters or excessive stimulation may lead to faster ejaculation.
